That’s why the boards of Aria Health System and Thomas Jefferson University voted unanimously to sign a Letter of Intent (LOI) leading to Aria’s integration into Jefferson Health, the combined clinical entity formed by the merger of Abington and Jefferson in May.
Together, we will be best positioned to grow services, enhance what Aria Health has built and ensure communities across the Philadelphia region have access to affordable, high-quality healthcare for years to come. This decision comes after Aria Health’s board of directors launched a process earlier this year to explore a possible strategic integration with another hospital, health system or hospital company. Recognizing the sweeping changes rapidly impacting the healthcare industry, Aria Health had a responsibility to explore all options that will further strengthen and enhance the care we provide.
After a thoughtful, deliberate process, Jefferson became the unanimous choice for Aria Health and the people we serve. In the coming weeks and months, we’ll continue to further explore how we can work together to deliver a seamless clinical experience for our patients, and we look forward to sharing updates along the way.
